Personal Thoughts

Everytime I get my hands on something new from Akuryou Obake, it's awesome as hell the moment I hit play. Genuinely a man who's vision doesn't miss in my eyes. This, like the Introduction to Bakata Label is a 2-parter; A CD and a DVD.

The CD is half recorded, half live. Both parts are absolutely great. I mentioned in the Introduction to Bakata Label that I loved ときめきWANTYOU, but I want to give my flowers to all the tracks. They're a really nice variety and they all work really well together. It's a welcome mix and honestly, I can easily see myself revisiting all these tracks over and over again. Probably OYSTER246 steals the show for me-- I just really love the sound of it. Also... It's kind of funny, because it seems like cooking instructions LOL. For the live tracks, it might be 正義 that inches ahead... I really just like the life put into it. Though the growling introducing ときめきWANTYOU is very cute and endearing...

The booklet is also worth talking about. It's another beautiful example of the cool as hell design. Genuinely, the few pages are all little art pieces and really help bring it all together. On the cover, there's a band photo and some info about them on the back; Inside, it's your typical lyrics and recognitions (theres a few 'いない'-- "N/A" in this case, which is kind of funny to include... It states it for hair/makeup, styling/costume and artist promotion lol.)

I said it earlier, but sometimes you hit play on something and immediatly know you're in for an amazing time. Such is the case with this. It starts off like a grainy, fucked up VCR tape, even with the added effect of the bottom being gnarled by static lines. After an intro, which includes scenes from their Youtube videos, we get into the live. The first live showcases Arukyo Obake himself, positioned in such a strange unnatural position where he's bent over and singing upside-down. He falls once, but it kind of makes it more impressive the fact that other than a small slip, he manages to hold that position. I think this nicely frames what the whole DVD is; it's a fun mix of great music and you can tell in every clip everyone is just having such a great time-- the bands and the fans alike. It's incredibly endearing. You get fun scenes such as Arukyo Obake hanging upside down and singing, Eto's birthday celebration, Katsuo handing out a porno mag to the audience...! You also get a few behind the scenes shots and a shot of Akuryou Obake singing from the toilet for some reason...! If I had a gripe, it'd just be that I wish sometimes it didn't but in the middle of songs, but that's more of an issue in the first half.

It's no exaggeration to say this might be one of my favorite DVDs. It did something so good for me mentally, I'm riding that high as I'm typing. 1000/10, loved every second of it. The CD is a blast too and holds some downright amazing and memorable tracks. I cannot say enough good things about this amazing release.
