Personal Thoughts

Starting with the CD: What really is there to say? It's 48 minutes of solid music, start to finish. The opening song, NICHIten Jikuuron, frames the album perfectly. This whole album feels both so perfectly 2008 but fresh at the same time (as to be expected of Metronome!).

Onto the PVs: I like the PV for Catch Me If You Can? The back and forth filming with the obvious greenscreen is weirdly endearing. However, Catch Me If You Can? is one of those songs I think just works a LOT better live. Maybe it's a getting used to curve I haven't even gotten over (When I first heard the song, I had a similar feeling though... So maybe it's just not one the studio version fits for me. I think it the chorus(?) part is the main issue-- something that's fine in a live setting but imo doesn't quite translate as well.)

Toaru Jishou's PV has a similar vibe to Catch Me If You Can? in the lots and lots of graphics, but I feel in a way it's better fleshed out. Maybe it's also because I like the studio version of this song though... Whereas Catch Me If You Can? visually felt a little more disjointed and silly, this feels more put together in a way.

The live segment takes place at what I (assume, 99% sure to be) a birthday live for Sharaku. This isn't related to the music but since this is my personal opinion section I just gotta say... What the hell was going on with Fukusuke's hair... I can't say it's a look thats particularly good... It's more or less so camp that I can't actually be mad either. Everyone else looks fine but his weird red hair sticks out like a sore thumb. It is a really good live though! There's a lot of charm in it and Sharaku looks especially cute with his adorable movements...

Starman sounds really good in this live. BOKU Ijinden is one of my all-time fav songs from them so it's always a delight to hear, especially in lives! Also, going back to what I said about Catch Me If You Can? earlier: It sounds a lot better in this live portion than the MV by far. Again, I don't think it's a bad song, it just translates a lot better to a live performance-- maybe it's the chorus that really is the big sticking point? It just somehow meshes a lot better live to me.

The birthday segments are so cute... Sharaku is so cute especially as he's a little embaressed... So cute, so cute!! His birthday pillow is adorable as well!! His little crown is so cute and endearing... There's also something very sweet about seeing someone who's been in music so long still come across as a bit shy and bashful to these things... Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it's still incredibly cute...!!!
