I was so excited to recieve this. Things from the Bakata Label feel incredibly hard to obtain (I'm sure I mentioned that in my Kaijin Sally reviews). Not only getting a CD was amazing, but a DVD that included snippets of video alongside a general digest was an absolute delight. The icing on the cake really is the hand-made booklet. The booklet is only 8 pages and full of a lot of text. My Japanese is shoddy at best, so that's all to sift through another day. I also do want to remark-- for everything in this CD/DVD, the price is kind of spectacular. It was only 3300 yen, approx $21 USD (Plus shipping, both in Japan and internationally; Since I got other things, it's hard to fully quantify, but even if it was like $30 all together, it's a great deal). Given all of the stuff included-- 1h16 mins of audio on the CD and a bonus 46 of snippets with the DVD, it's kind of an amazing price point.

Now, for my thoughts on the CD itself: It rocks. Honestly, you get such a fun mix of different projects and songs. It's dripping with that punk-DIY type of spirit from start to finish and is just incredibly enjoyable to listen to. The sound quality does get crunchy, so if that's not your thing, you might not enjoy it so much, but I loooooveeeeeee stuff that sounds like it was put through a toaster after being recorded in a sewer. In a similar note, if you're not a fan of noise (as in, the genre... But also in general, things that sound like TV static piercing your ears) or sudden loud noises, you may not be a fan of this. It does make it a hard album to put on at a moderate level and listen to, and I've found it's a lot better to put it on low and not get suddenly jumpscared LOL. However, this album is more than loud noises, there are some much more mellow tracks (such as the final song, 怪人サリー's"ときめきWantyou" being... A cutesy pop song mixed in with rock and harsher vocals LOL). Probably the aforementioned song is one of my favorites off of the CD because I think it really does a good job of encapsulating a lot of the vibe of this-- it's a bit campy, it's fun to listen to, there's harsh vocals but a genuinely enjoyable melody, and there are little cut-in snippets. I also really like 悪霊喪服陣's "うそつき信号".

As mentioned before, the video is a digest. In short, it's usually a clip of music with the associated release. These are generally short, 30-second clips that show the year as well. It really did make me yearn for all of these releases, but god they are a pain in the ass to get. Before I said "usually" because, as you'd expect, the catalogue of the label isn't solely music, there's video as well! There are all kinds of cool live videos showcased that really make me yearn to see more... Specifically, there's one where Akuryou Obake is dressed up as Kitaro... Very very charming!!! Also, I might as well say it here: God the design for the cover art for everything they do is so perfect. Genuinely might be some of my all-time fav just because of how visually striking it is. It feels like the kind of stuff that'd curse you if you're not too careful somehow... And that just makes me fawn!
