Panic! At The Disco

Discography Deep Dive Introduction

Panic! At The Disco… My beloved, my hated, my very very complex. Crowned one of the three major names of emo, it’s hard to not have at least heard of the band– good or bad– if you lived through the 2000s and 2010s.

My feelings with this band are hard to pin down. If you asked me when I was 12-13, I’d tell you they were if not my most favorite, one of my favorite bands. I originally had to hide my love of the band, and for kind of a funny reason: one of my older siblings told me the music was too mature for me. In hindsight, this is very funny as I grew up with the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Jack off Jill and Rob Zombie, but I digress. Perhaps the fact the band was so “forbidden” made it that more appealing, laying in my bed, covers over my head, earphones in listening to “Camisado” or “Build God Then We’ll Talk”-- the last especially forbidden. I specifically tried to listen in ways that wouldn’t be tracked– deleting history and using my I-Pod Nano instead of Itunes (so it wouldn’t be tracked)... And as I’m writing this, yes, I realize how insane this sounds.

However, at some point, things shifted and I was able to buy a Vices & Virtues shirt from Hot Topic, so suck it. Though I won the battle… Did I truly win the war…?

This Discography Deep Dive will go into the following: History that built up the band and my personal reviews of pertinent albums, eps and music videos. This will not go into detail about live albums or really much of the bandmate’s personal life unless it relates to the song-making progress or deeply affected the band in some way.

The inclusion of this intro serves as the starting point for this journey. I suggest going in order of era, given that's how I'll be writing these.
