Our School Broadcast (Bokutachi no Konai Hoso): A review

NOTE: This review will contain spoilers.

I wanted to watch more dramas, so I decided to seek out some from the same person who did the GachiKoi subbing. This was much shorter, only ending in 4 episodes. I think for what it was, it was cute. A succinct story about two boys who end up running a radio show in their school. I think overall, it was a cute show. I didn't want something super heavy, and kind of expected to just half-watch, but it kept up my attention. The acting was good overall, and the two main boys and the girl who joins them had a fun chemistry.

I do have to say, I didn't like the romance plot part of it. I think maybe if it was a longer series and they fleshed out more about Kenta [one of the lead boys] and his crush's relationship, it'd be more interesting. However, because they didn't their love story falls horribly flat compared to the friendship Kenta and Hiroya had. The last episode, the shoehorning in of that romance plot kind of annoyed me more than anything, and it felt so weird compared to the disbanding. We got maybe 2-3 scenes of the romance part, but I think it should've just kept it to the friendship the club formed, rather than add that in. I'm not against romance in TV by any means, but it felt like such a boring afterthought compared to the rest, and the last minute and still lacking development is more tiresome than anything.

All in all, it wasn't groundbreaking, but it was still a cute and overall cheery watch. The filming was soothing, and I think in the short amount of time (4 episodes being 20 minutes each, it's like a movie length), it was cute enough. I think my rating would be about a 7.
