45 Grave - Riboflavin
I'll always be sad this song isn't up there with Monster Mash for it's iconic-ness in terms of Halloween songs. This is actually a cover of an older song by Don Hinson & The Rigamorticians-- also the people who put out Monster Mash. Both versions are good, but I have to honor 45 Grave this time...! Also, there are two versions of this song by them-- One on this album, Sleep In Safety, and another on Autopsy... But I prefer this version.
Shazna - Sumire September Love
Genuinely what better song is there for September than this one? It's so fun and charming, ever since first hearing it, it always feels fun to indulge in listening to it for the month. Very catchy and cute!!
An Cafe - Merrymaking
I believe this was the first An Cafe PV I watched, and it kind of cemented in my head An Cafe being a "summer" band for me. Merrymaking is just a really fun song and it feels perfect for the season. The PV is also really worth a watch, as it's super cute! Probably my favorite from the band! The song is upbeat and cute to me.
cali≠gari - マグロ
It was around this time many years ago I first heard this song, and it's remained not only one of my favorite cali≠gari songs, but one of my favorite visual kei songs in general! It was also one of the very first visual kei songs I've ever heard. Usually, when I suggest cali≠gari to people, it includes this song. Incredibly funky and cool sound with dark lyrics.
アイノリ・テクノーズ - キラキラ星
June is summer! What a better way to start it off than with an album called SUMMER PARTY! This is the album opener and it's probably my favorite song off the album. The instrumental fits everyones voices in a really fun way, and it just reminds me of taking a daytrip on a nice sunny day ^_^. I also really love the instrumental bit around the 2:00 min mark and I think it adds a lot of charm.
Cibo Matto - Spoon
First song of the month...! Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Cibo Matto and my brain keeps landing on singing the chorus of this song to myself. Something about it just feels very summer-y, and while we're still in spring, as the weather heats up here, I'm looking ahead. I believe this is one of Cibo Matto's more well-known songs, but it's still very much worth highlighting.
